On Sunday September 9th, Tribal Dance Arts hosted the crew from the feature film "Silent" - in our backyard! The Caravan was open and the cameras were rolling. Director Mike Plekaitas, his wife Andrea, and their crew of filmmakers and actors worked for seven hours to craft what will become the opening scene of the film. (26 pictures)

On November 18th, 2006, Tribal Dance Arts sponsored it's Autumn Hafla. Fabulous dancing, excellent food, and the best crowd of participants and observers ever. Now repeat after me: Party - Bellydance - Good. Note before you click: A lot of dancing can mean a lot of photos. (64 pictures)
Avani, Ashtar, & Aysha Sephardic Connection, Sept 2006

On Saturday, Sept 16th and 17th, 2006, the Daughters of Sophia joined Alborada Spanish Dance Theater as Guest Artists in a performance of "The Sephardic Connection". They were joined on the stage by Ramzi El Edlibi and a cadre of superb Spanish dancers and musicians. Ashtar and Avani were also interviewed by "Flamenco Buzz" ezine before the show and during intermission. We also received a much appreciated review from The Star Ledger. (11 pictures)

On Sept 16th and 17th, 2006, The Daughters of Sophia performed for the 4th time at the Lakewood Renaissance Faire. This was the 25th running of this annual event and it was something special. On May 7th, 2006, The Daughters of Sophia performed with the Alborada Spanish Dance Theater in the "The Feast of Sarah, A Gypsy Festival". This was the troupe's second appearance with Alborada Spanish Dance Theater. We would like to thank Eva Lucena, Artistic Director and all of her wonderfull dancers. (43 pictures)

The Daughters of Sophia performed at the famous "Stone Pony" in Asbury Park, NJ on April 14, 2006. We would like to thank Brianne Diomede for inviting us to dance at the "Pony", the Stone Pony for welcoming us, and Juggling Suns for arranging the entire evening's entertainment. (21 pictures)

On September 18th, The Daughters of Sophia performed with the Alborada Spanish Dance Theater and The Tisza Ensemble of Hungarian dancers in "The Feast of Sarah: A Gypsy Festival". Alborada is one of the finest Flamenco dance companies in the U.S. and regularly imports artists from Spain and elsewhere to enhance their already superb performances. (23 pictures)

This was our 3rd year at Lakewood (and the 24th year the Lakewood Lions Club has staged the Renfaire). We consider this to be our home venue and look foward to it each year. We would like to thank the Lions Club and especially Don Alemany for making this event possible. (27 pictures)
